Yesterday while visiting Lisa's blog (you gotta check her out, she's pretty funny!) her post about stealing an ATM machine brought back a memory. Lisa lives Montana and my dad grew up in Montana.
As most dads do, my dad would tell stories about his childhood. One story that I loved the most was when he would tell us about stealing outhouses.
His buddies would gather in the back of a pick up truck and in the middle of the night, go around and steal outhouses and put them in the back of the truck. They then would deposit the outhouses on other people's lawns throughout their little town. Some people didn't think that was so funny. (LOL)
Here's something else that they would do with outhouses. He and his buddies would push the outhouse back and expose the hole. So that in the middle of the night, someone might fall into the hole on their way out to the outhouse. Some people didn't think that was too funny either.
(ROFLOL)
I am grateful for indoor plumbing and two ply TP.
And speaking of indoor plumbing, when it was invented and made available, my father's family was the first one in their little town in Montana to have it installed in their home. And the people in their town ostracized them for the longest time. What kind of filthy dirty people were they to actually go to the bathroom INSIDE THEIR HOUSE? Disgusting!

I grew up in the country and we did crazy things like that too... Not like stealing ATM's though (We didn't have a tractor!) :)
We had a TV but it only had 3 channels. So in order not to be bored ya gotta come up with something to do sometimes~
I reallly miss that kind of living.
I love when parents tell stories of their past.
My Mom tells great stories about growing up in the 50's!
Thanks for sharing a part of your Dad's life and by the way...Great photo's!
SO many memories! Sounds like your Dad had a lot of fun.
I remember getting for sales signs out of one person's yard and putting it in another. We thought that was so funny, but I am sure there were other opinions on the subject. m
That is so funny! My dad grew up with an outhouse and my sister uses one now!! I don't think she would think that is too funny either. Especially in the winter. LOL! I'll have to ask my dad if he pulled any pranks like your dad did. Knowing him - I'm sure the town hated him for his antics. lol.
Too funny.
Omigosh, it would NOT be funny to FALL in a HOLE like THAT!!!! LOL.... LOL....
I've never been linked in someones post before--way exciting! That probably makes me a complete SUper Geek--ah well...
I have a great "stealing for sale signs story"! I loved your outhouse pictures and I love your new background. Your Dad sounds a lot like my Dad--one Halloween they put someones outhouse on someone's outhouse--yikes! One of the things that always makes me smile about outhouses is the double seater ones--really now--did they really "go" 2 by 2?! Great post!
What a great post! I just love it!!!! And the pics you included are perfect. Thanks for making me grin from ear to ear.

We had out-houses in Alaska...on my mom's homestead. I'd wait all night to run into the woods! Scared the crud out of me at night :)
I just can't think of anyone who wouldn't appreciate taking a step in one of those holes!!??!!! how so very funny - what a rebel!
Loved the story. We actually have an ancestor with the last name outhouse I think. LOL

LOL!! I so see Stan having done that!!!!
yikes...thank goodness for indoor plumbing~!!!!!!!
That is too funny about stealing outhouses and moving them. LOL! Love it!
I hate using outdoor toilets. I stopped at a rest stop the other day it had toilets that when you looked into them it was just a huge dark whole. It scared Wild Child to death. I think she would rather put a diaper back on! LOL!
We had an outhouse at our ranch... My cousins had me convinced that there was a scary guy that lived in the bottom of it... gross huh?
Now that I am thinking about it, I can't believe that I was not only dumb enough, but also so freaked out by it that I would hold it...
Potty humor is the best!
Hey there!! I just wanted to comment on your 'Cool' post. I LOVE the look of your blog! Check mine out, and you will see why! Take care!

Yuck! I can't imagine stepping in THAT hole. So gross.
Really cute background.
Bye bye.♥☺♥
Mom you have so many comments, I wonder if you'll even know I commented. But I love those stories. Thanks for the job encouragement. I feel like it could be coming to an end but then again, that could be the leftovers I ate last night.
