About a month ago, I received a jury summons for my youngest daughter who is attending college in Utah. I responded to the summons by telling them that she no longer is a resident of the state of California.
About a week and a half later I received the court's response: Your request for excusal for jury duty has BEEN DENIED. On the very same day that I received this response, I received a jury summons for my son who is serving in Brazil. I mailed the summons back stating that he is not a resident of the COUNTRY.
A few days ago, I received the court's response: Your request for excusal for jury duty has BEEN DENIED.

Are you serious? Is that for real?
I distinctly remember the one time I had jury duty, that the thing said that if you are no longer living in the area, you are excused.
Good luck with that!
Yep, it's for real. I was going to keep the reply card and post it but it got thrown away. Can you believe it?
THAT is incredible!!!! CRAZY! BUT, funny!!!
Uhh......so now what?! Well, I guess it wouldn't be too big of a problem for your son to come home. I mean, they let missionaries off for stuff like that all the time, right?!? =D
LOL, you should send a certified letter saying the request for jury duty for these two have been denied. Please fulfill my request to having a competent worker respond back, Thank you.
that is crazy Deb! Maybe they will fly them home just to sit on the jury!!
Didn't that happen to me after I moved out from living with you guys? I think it is something about your address.
Lol, I would want to bang my head too.
CA is wacky! I remember they let me off the hook when I was going to school in Idaho. Guess they're getting desperate!
That's hilarious!! WOW. Weird that they both happened within a month of each other.
Sorry that was redhoodoos. Grr!
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr! I really am hoping for a letter telling me I am up for JD! But it has not been my turn yet. Good Luck working this one out. M
haha! I called once and explained that I was having surgery the day before -they excused me. Then the next time they send me a summons I had moved out of the county and I totally ignored it. Not on purpose, it just sat on my to do list and ended up not getting done. I'm still worried about getting arrested or something someday when I'm pulled over for something like a break light begin out.
Anyway. I haven't read your blog more than this post. -Yet. But any kitchen ditcher is a friend of mine!
okay. officially in love with your blog. :)
This does not make sense at all - not one little bit!!!
Yes, I used to work for the State...That sounds about normal!
I used to say while working there that if it made common sense do the opposite and that would be the right thing! Crazy but ohhhhhh so true!
Robin~♥
holy schmokes!
what are you going to do?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!
{psssst:: come see me.... yeah you know me..... i'm under an assumed name now....ssshhhh...it's a secret}
and don't freak out....i'm not a psycho.
just come to my blog ♥ you'll know who i am!
That is just crazy! Some people must be asleep on the job or something! So what's next, a notice of contempt of court for failing to report? :-) I was going to say only in California but I was actually excused just 2 weeks ago from jury duty on a murder trial. The judge said it will be about a 2-3 month trial, and my employer will only pay for 7 days. So the judge accepted it as a hardship and excused me. Nice judge. Anyway --- I hope you can get it resolved.
Things like this make my stomach tense up! I'm so sorry you have to bang your head. he-he.
Heads up btw, I'm tagging you!
If you have a minute, I'd love to see what you come up with for the ABC About Me!:)
Oh that's just ridiculous!!! So what is their penalty for not attending jury duty?
A little bit embarrassing! Poor Cali.
I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for the comment. That is too funny about the jury summons thing. I was hoping to add you to my list of blogs that i follow. I have read many of your posts and love your blog.
Okay, that was already pretty funny. Then I saw the bang head here sign. HOW FUNNY IS THAT!?!
